Bhubaneswar: Finally, Orissa DGP Manmohan Praharaj took on anti-Posco elements in Jagatsinghpur district. This is outlandish and exceptional of a DGP. But, being unusual and eccentric is what RAW man Praharaj is known for. Talks alone can’t bring solution in industrial zones.
It’s the technique of the men in khaki that could bring peace in these troubled areas and the same could again restore peace in the mind of the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who is under tremendous pressure from big corporate houses. So Praharaj dared to arrest Abhaya Sahoo, who is a local CPI leader in Jagatsinghpur, was leading anti-Posco agitation.
Be aware anti-Posco elements and other pro-Left anti-industry elements! Here is Praharaj. So don’t take law into your hands, as the new Orissa DGP is defiant to carry out his master’s will. Praharaj having experience in working with the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) would have no way face any type of bad music after the arrest of Sahoo. But fact remain that Praharaj has made it abundantly clear that he will not repeat not going to tolerate gobbledygook.
While using his own mind, 54-year-old Praharaj ordered his men in khaki to put Sahoo behind bars. So Sahoo was arrested on Sunday on his way to home. By arresting Sahoo, DGP has sent a strong message for the anti-industry lobbyist in the State.
In recent past, two former DGP including Amarananda Pattanayak and Gopal Chandra Nanda did not able to put pressure on Sahoo and other anti-industry elements but Praharaj made it clear that since he is in office, everything should be perfect and correct. So, the smile would again return in the face of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
It may be noted here that when Praharaj headed the Intellegnce wing, had suggested to arrest Sahoo but no one support him including the Chief Minister, who had in fact apprehended a second Kalinga Nagar in Jagatsinghpur district, where South Korean Steel maker proposed to set up a mega venture.
On joining as the State Police Chief, Praharaj rushed to the riot-hit zone, Kandhamal to sort out the matter, which had taken away the sleep of Naveen Patnaik for nearly one month.
The same police force, which was reluctant to arrest hardcore Hindu fundamentalists, went on arresting them with electrifying speed. 619 people behind bar, the communal frenzy zone received some respite and for last 11 days, no major violence has been reported. With instigators and conspirators cooling their heels in prison, police force is having some respite.
