Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed in Hotel Mayfair Lagoon here in State Capital, where the players of Challenger Trophy staying, sources said on Saturday. The unruly scene started, when India Blue Skipper Yuvaraj Singh exchanged a heated argument with Sandeep Ray, son of Hotel owner and former Union Minister Dilip Ray.
Sources said that after the practice session over at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, the venue for the Challenger’s Trophy, some 14 players, Team coach and manager were returning to the Hotel here.
Players after arrival, one by one entered into the hotel. Sandeep Ray was inside and coming towards the main entrance gate, when his right elbow hits with Yuvaraj Singh while the Indian all-rounder along with teammates protested, which created tension in the Hotel for some times, sources added.
Meanwhile, officials of the Mayfair Lagoon, later amicable solved the matter with Sandeep apologized to the Indian Cricketer. BCCI officials however condemned the attitude of Hotel owner’s. After the incident, security has been tightened at the Hotel premises to avoid any untoward incident.
