Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, two engineering students of National Institute of Technology (NIT) at Rourkella drowned in Puri, while taking bath in the sea on Sunday.
Sources said 13 students of Electrical branch went to take a holy dip in the sea in the morning. However, as the sea condition was rough due to depression, four among them were swept away by the tidal surges.
Though two students were rescued by other people taking bath in the sea immediately, one among them was rescued half an hour late and he was declared dead in the District Headquarters Hospital. The deceased was identified as Rabi Jaiswal. His body was handed over to his family members after conducting autopsy, said Penthakata out-post ASI NK Panda.
However, the body of another student, who is identified as Bhusanbabu Rout is yet to be recovered, he added.
