Bhubaneswar: The state government on Wednesday approved an annual budget of Rs 5.19 crore for the Tripti scheme for 2008-09.
The decision was taken in a high-level meeting presided over by chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here.
The state government has implemented the scheme in 10 districts of the state, particularly in the rural areas to improve the socio-economic condition and the livelihood mainly of the women folk.
The districts are Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack , Jajpur, Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur and Nayagarh.
A total of 1254607 families of 8369 villages will be benefited under the scheme.
The World Bank has agreed to give assistance of Rs 400 crore in the coming five years.
